Short answer to this question is "to give power to the people". There is enough Free/Opensource software to satisfy most needs of users. Even if we cannot address all needs of all users, you can use DANIX and extend it to create your own solutions.

Why 'another distro'?

Well, in year 2006 the question should rather be:

"why another thousands of GNU/Linux distributions?"

DANIX is no more just another distro. It is a technology platform to create your own distribution from Debian software library with almost no hard work.

In year 2003, DANIX was a Live CD.

We tried to satisfy needs of all users, but we found out we cannot do it alone. Better idea is to make it easy for users to make their own LIVE CDs. So we tried to put together tools to make this possible. First tries were not successfull -  software  was way too complex and hard to use right. But eventually, after few total rewrites from scratch, we have something which might be easy enough.

Now it should be  easy to create your own distro, which have good hardware autoconfiguration. Try it. We want you to do your own 'another distro'.
